EVANGELISM

WORD OF FAITH FAMILY WORSHIP CATHEDRAL

As followers and disciples of Jesus Christ, we have the greatest news in the world! More so, the church of Jesus Christ has the awesome responsibility to share the good news of salvation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Evangelism is the pivotal mission of reaching others with this life-changing gospel message.

“And He personally gave some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and some teachers, for the training of the saints in the work of the ministry, to build up the body of Christ …” (Ephesians 4:11)

This scripture is widely considered the five-fold ministry. Many in our work today hold the title of teacher or pastor. Teaching conferences are held all around the world, but such conferences may have nothing at all to do with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Today, pastors exist in great numbers. However, the title alone provides no assurance that such a person is a Christian and subscribes to the tenets of Christianity.

Evangelism has always been different. Among the five-fold ministry, it remains expressly related to the gospel. No matter the numerous or rapid changes in our culture, evangelism has and will always be connected to the good news gospel.

Evangelism comes from the Greek word euangelistes, which is comprised of two root words: eu which means “good”, and angellein which means “message” or “news”. Therefore, an evangelist is one who brings or delivers the good news message of Jesus Christ. The message must always be centered on Jesus because He is the gospel personified.

This page is designed to introduce biblical evangelism at Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral. Here you will learn about evangelism, what it is, why it’s important, and how you can get involved. We desire to train and equip you to effectively share your faith while showing grace and respect to all people. In addition, if you have questions about evangelism or Christianity, we encourage you to email us at [email protected]. After reading your question, we will respond and possibly share it with a larger audience.

Biblical motivations concerning evangelism:

  • Love for God and obedience to His Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20)
  • Love for people caught in sin’s bondage (Matthew 9:36-38)
  • Understanding the urgency of people’s need for salvation (2 Corinthians 5:11)
  • Desire to see people experience life in Christ (John 10:10)
  • Warning people from a place of love in Christ (Ezekiel 3:18)

If you don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and have never accepted the free gift of salvation, you can begin experiencing the peace of God now. God has a marvelous plan for your life (Jeremiah 29:11) and it starts with being in relationship with Him through faith in Jesus Christ (John 14:6). If you want to receive Jesus now, pray this simple prayer:

“Lord, thank you for loving me and for sending Jesus Christ into the world to die for my sins. Lord, I confess that I have sinned and have disobeyed you. I ask you now to forgive me. I believe that Jesus Christ died to save me. Because he is risen from the dead, I confess that He is Lord and I believe in my heart that He is risen forever more. I accept your free gift of salvation and put my faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you Lord for saving me. I turn from my former ways and now turn to your ways. Enable me to live from this moment in a way that pleases you. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
